J Craft Boats to present the new J Craft Torpedo at the 2010 Dusseldorf boat show

Swedish boat design and manufacturing company J Craft Boats is pleased to announce that it will be attending the Dusseldorf Boat Show with its new J Craft Torpedo luxury yacht tender.

The launch of the Torpedo sees the dawn of an exciting new era for J Craft. Such is the early demand for the new Torpedo that J Craft has increased production at its home shipyard on the Swedish island of Gotland. By the end of the first quarter of 2010 eight J Craft Torpedos will be ready to grace the seas, with one boat per-month being built thereafter.
Designed and constructed exclusively by J Craft, the Torpedo is an inspired combination of timeless style, cutting edge technology and breathtaking craftsmanship. Using only the finest materials – including environmentally responsible rainforest-free wood for the hull – and the most respected component suppliers, the J Craft Torpedo is painstakingly built to meticulous standards.
Powered by twin Volvo Penta IPS 500 engines custom-tuned to J Craft’s requirements, the 12.63m J Craft Torpedo offers tremendous speed through the water, with a sprint speed of 44 knots. For those times when precise control takes priority the Torpedo can be accurately and intuitively directed sideways and through a full 360? thanks to the integrated IPS propulsion system, which is controlled via a simple, intuitive joystick.
“The Torpedo pushes the limits of classic boat building. The workmanship is completely uncompromising; every single detail on the boat is second to none. We like to think of ourselves as the Bentley of the seas,” said Johan Hallén, Chief Technical Officer at J Craft Boats.

Every J Craft Torpedo exudes elegance, beauty and a magical touch of extravagance. From a hand-carved Nardi steering wheel - as seen on another design classic, the Ferrari 250 GTO - to silver cutlery designed by Prince Carl Philip of Sweden, each individual detail comes together to form an unsurpassed whole.

That’s why piloting a J Craft is a boating experience unlike any other.

In the words of the project initiator, Johan Attvik, “The J Craft Torpedo is much more than just a motor yacht - it’s a statement of personality and lifestyle. It’s an ideal yacht for the most discerning and demanding clientele.”

Founded in 1998 by Björn Jansson, J Craft is a relative newcomer to the highest eschelons of boat building. However, thanks to Jansson’s vision of taking the influence of Sweden’s rich boat building heritage and bringing it into modern times, J Craft’s ethos and inspiration is as old as the industry itself.

The first boat manufactured by J Craft - the Cabrio Cruiser - left the shipyard in 2000 and was delivered to the King of Sweden, who still uses it today. In the following nine years, just seven of the exclusive Cabrio Cruisers have been constructed for an elite group of discerning customers.
Such determination to reinvent classic boating for the 21st Century has placed J Craft at the forefront of yacht building. With the launch of the Torpedo, J Craft is writing a new chapter in the long and distinguished history of Swedish maritime innovation.
