World changing
Alexia Barrier, the 30-year old navigator, embarks on her solo circumnavigation onboard the 60-footer 4myPlanet on 11 January 2010 and will be making stops in Cape Town, Sydney, Auckland, Rio de Janeiro, New York before returning to Monaco by end June 2010. The christening of her boat by Princess Stephanie takes place in Monaco on Saturday 9th January, while HSH Prince Albert II will attend her departure from the harbour outside the Yacht Club de Monaco on Monday 11th. Besides Camper & Nicholsons International, partners to the scientific adventure include Wally Yachts, Only Yacht Insurance, the Yacht Club de Monaco, the Albert II Foundation, jewelry designer Axel Mees, and many others. Alexia’s journey aims at collecting scientific data to help research on oceans and is part of a programme supported by the French oceanic institute Ifremer, in collaboration with the Monaco Musée Océanographique and the International Seakeepers Society. Alexia’s aim is also to help bring exposure to the need for improved behaviour when it comes to the preservation of the environment and the oceans, with a series of educational conferences at every stop and after her return to Monaco – before her preparation for the 2012 Vendée Globe Challenge. www.4myplanet.eu

BROKERAGE NEWS
CNI are delighted to announce the signing of a 140-metre new build by CNI Monaco based broker Alex Lees Buckley. Known as Hull 6218, the seven-deck yacht from Fincantieri will be designed by Espen Oeino, with interior by Alberto Pinto and Laura Sessa. The 140-metre is the first order for a yacht over 100 metres in the past year and is due for delivery in five years. Hull 6218 will be built according to the rules and regulations of SOLAS. Particular attention will be given to environmentally friendly solutions, quality and performance. She will undoubtedly be the most technically advanced yacht in the world.
The end of 2009 also saw the launch of the 56m (184’) Panthalassa from the renowned Perini Navi yard. A fusion of contemporary living and the finest nautical heritage, she is the 48th build from the Perini Navi yard and the eight 56-metre yacht from a series that has proved highly successful. Built and project managed by CNI’s Mark Hilpern, Panthalassa is now available for charter in the Caribbean through CNI.

Sale & Purchase
CNI saw several sales and purchases throughout December including purchase of the 47.55m (156’) Feadship Princess K II. Built in 1999, the Feadship underwent a complete refit in 2005 and today sleeps 12 guests in six cabins.
CNI’s Fernando Nicholson and Bill Sanderson announce the sale of the 42.75m (140’3) Royal Eagle. Built in 1989 by Picchiotti, her previous owners put her through a refit and upgraded her with larger engines and new generators.
CNI are also delighted to announce the sale of the 30.5m (110’) Feadship La Belle Aire. The classic gentleman’s yacht has been immaculately maintained since her build in 1973 and today accommodates up 10 guests.
Back in the US, Bob O’Brien announces the sale of the 30.5m (110’) Cortina. Built by Broward in 2001, she has been through several upgrades since her build in 2001 and today sleeps 10 guests in six cabins.

New Listings
CNI welcomed a number of new listings to the books at the end of 2009. Charles Ehrardt jointly lists the 42m (137’8) Blue Eyes for sale. Having had one owner and captain since her build by Baglietto in 2004, she is in immaculate condition. She boasts an extensive equipment list.
Jordan Waugh jointly lists the 42m (138’) AMZ for sale. Built in 1989 by Marinteknik, the Swedish specialists in high-speed crafts and ferries, she has recently been through various technical and cosmetic upgrades (including maintenance on her main engines and the rebuilding of her water jets). She has been a popular charter yacht and is now offered for sale.
Georges Bourgoignie lists the 30.5m (100’) sailing yacht C’est La Vie for sale. Build in 1988 by Sparkman & Stephens, she was refit in 2006 by CIM and today boasts accommodation for up to six guests. Mike Payne brings the 26m (85’3) Solaria Too from Esterel onto the CNI books. Built in 1973, she exemplifies the legendary Esterel sea-keeping qualities and efficiency and is presented in excellent condition. Jonathan Syrett offers one of the few Princess fly bridge models  for sale. Built in 2001, the 25.7m (86’1) Mia & Alejandra has four well-appointed staterooms for up to eight guests. She comes with an optional private berth in Palma also for sale. Gaston Lees Buckley announces the new listing of the 23m (75’5) Techno Diamond. Barely used since her build in 2002, she is in outstanding condition. Reaching speeds of up to 30 knots, she accommodates up to seven guests in style.


CHARTER NEWS
December saw a culinary feast at the 48th Antigua Charter Yacht Meeting in the Caribbean. This year's Concours de Chef competition was the ultimate test for the 27 chefs who took part as they were asked to prepare a Caribbean themed buffet brunch with baked goods. Each of the contestants were judged on taste, presentation, nutritional value of ingredients, creativity and appropriateness, ability to perform under pressure, hygiene and knowledge of food handling, and teamwork. The competition ran over three days and was split into three categories ­ yachts 150' and above; yachts from 91'-149'; and yachts under 90'.  In addition, the Piper Heidsieck Elegance de la Table Prize was awarded for the most stylish and suitably Caribbean themed table setting of in each size category, and The Carib Bean Coffee Roasters prize was awarded for the most innovative use of Carib Bean Coffee in each size category.
Several of CNI's central agency listings won awards, the most prestigious award being given to Chef Kdn Lune aboard CNI's 39.32m (129') Lionshare, who took first prize in the the 91' - 149' category. Traditional Caribbean ingredients using fresh local produce from the land and sea inspired Kdn's winning menu. His dishes were served with five baked goods including jerk chicken and plantain turnovers and pineapple and coconut muffins. Kdn's award winning jellied Caribbean café au lait with cardamom, orange and cinnamon complemented the menu.
CNI's 69.95m (229'5) Sherakhan took first place in the Piper Heidsieck Elegance de la Table, and Chef Ronald Pot, also aboard Sherakhan, was awarded first place for his Carib Bean Coffee Roaster dessert.

New Central Agency
CNI’s charter marketing division are delighted to welcome the 56m (184’) Panthalassa to the charter fleet. Delivered in December, she is available for charters in the Caribbean and will be returning to the Mediterranean for the summer season. She combines 21st century innovation with intelligent design. Her layout has been extremely well thought through in every regard, and is practical throughout. Flexible, multifunctional spaces offer a host of well-conceived opportunities for social interaction. Panthalassa is the only Perini of her size to offer six equally proportioned double cabins, all on the lower deck, two of which convert to twin cabins, with four Pullman berths.
Also joining the CNI fleet and due for launch later this year, the 39.3m (129’) cruising ketch Clear Eyes combines classic design lines with state-of-the-art rigging and technology. She offers spacious volume for family charters, sleeping 12 guests. Clear Eyes will be available in the East Mediterranean this summer season.
The recently launched 38m (124’) Northlander also joins the CNI charter fleet. Boasting an elegant ad spacious interior with accommodation for 10 guests in three double cabins and two twin cabins, she will be cruising the Mediterranean this summer season.
CNI also welcomes the 30.5m (100’) San Lorenzo Lady Luck to their central agency listings. Available in the Mediterranean this coming summer, Lady Luck reaches exhilarating top speeds of a sport boat with the comfort of a fly bridge yacht. Assuring guests excitement, pleasure and relaxation, she is perfect for Mediterranean cruising and has vast space for hosting events. Lady Luck sleeps 10 guests.
Originally built for the prince of Sweden in the 1970’s, the 27m (90’) Stella Nova spent the summers cruising the Swedish archipelagos. Her rebuild in 2006 leaves her fresh and ready for charter in the Baltic as she joins the CNI fleet. She sleeps 8/10 guests in three double cabins and one twin cabin, plus a Pullman berth.
