Vilanova Grand Marina – Barcelona, the first marina in the Mediterranean specialising in superyachts, enters a new phase in its business strategy coinciding with its first anniversary, and decides to directly manage sales and marketing of the marina with its own resources. In May, the marina’s professional team, led by General Manager Ignacio Erroz, will take on the commercialization of moorings, which is currently being subcontracted to Varador 2000.

By directly managing sales the marina expects to boost its growth and to consolidate its position within the international superyachts market. Ignacio Erroz said: “during this first year of activity, we have focused in building good commercial grounds. Now it is time to take a step forward and to set more ambitious objectives in order to reach 80% occupancy in the next two years. This is why we have decided to directly manage sales with our own resources”.

This new approach in the business strategy coincides with the appointment of a new president at Vilanova Grand Marina – Barcelona. The Board of Directors has recently decided to appoint Rafael Cañero as President to lead, with the support of General Manager Ignacio Erroz, this new phase. Cañero is a member of the Board of Directors of the construction company COPISA, major shareholder of Marina Far Vilanova S.A. (company responsible for the management of the marina). Cañero has been a member of the Board of Directors of Marina Far Vilanova S.A. since January 2005.

Vilanova Grand Marina – Barcelona celebrates in April its first operational year. The management is satisfied with both the running of the marina and its occupancy level. Cañero stated: “We are pleased because we have managed to clearly position our marina in the market during this first year. The rental of moorings is going very well and we are achieving our expectations in terms of occupancy. On the other hand, we have been able to offer a wide range of high quality services, and this is shown by the high degree of satisfaction of our customers”.

The dockyard located within the facilities of Vilanova Grand Marina – Barcelona is currently under construction. A part of it is due to open in June this year. The marina will be in charge of directly managing the new dockyard of the harbour of Vilanova i la Geltrú until 2035, year in which the administrative concession from Ports de la Generalitat will expire.
